Colombo, 6th September 2017: The 3W Group (Third Wave Group), is celebrating 20 years driving innovation and change in the corporate and retail sectors in Sri Lanka and the region.

3W Consulting (3WC); the pioneering venture of the Group, the leader in Corporate Enterprise Renewal and Change Management in Sri Lanka also celebrates 20 years of facilitating Corporate Strategy, Service Transformation, HR and Operations Transformation and Leadership Capacity Building consulting and training solutions for leading blue-chip companies. 3WC’s consultancy and training solutions have been delivered across multiple industries in the Australasia and Middle Eastern regions in the last two decades.

The Group has expanded from its core consulting business 3WC, to include several other businesses. ‘3W Advisory’ works in partnership with 3WC and consists of veteran industry specialists who deliver on highly technical trade-specific corporate solutions. ‘3W Academy’ is the corporate training arm of the Group which delivers business education and learning programs for corporates, and includes accreditations by City and Guilds, The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), and the Global Retail Academy (GRA). In 2004, the Group expanded into education consultancy and representations with the launch of ‘3WGE’ with representations of over 100 universities and colleges in Australia, UK, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and Malaysia in Sri Lanka. 3W Express – RPX is the Group’s courier express service business which is a joint venture with The Lenton Group-Hong Kong and The Finlays Group and uses Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon and China Airlines as its transportation networks.

Venturing beyond its homeland, in 2008, the 3W Group also launched Third Wave International (TWI) – the Group’s international consulting arm based in Bahrain serving the MENA markets. This was a landmark venture as the organization took Sri Lankan consultancy international; a clear demonstration of its business capabilities in international markets. TWI works closely with the Human Capital Development Fund of the Government of Bahrain, planning and executing large capacity building programmes covering over 20 industries in lines with the 2030 vision of the nation.  TWI was involved in the development of the corporate values for the Bahrain International Circuit – The Formula 1 Track. Apart from same, TWI has been engaged by many private and public sector organisations on capacity building missions. TWI also has a go-to-market initiative where the business has facilitated leading Sri Lankan and Bahrain organisations to establish markets in both countries.

Sharing his thoughts on two decades of consulting history, Founder and Managing Director of The 3W Group, Stefan Moraes stated, “I would like to look at ourselves as a boutique consultancy providing tailor-made solutions for corporates that require specific solutions to turbo boost the growth of their organisations. Throughout the past 20 years, our business has grown mainly through referrals and we never had the need to aggressively market ourselves – our work speaks for its self and the results we deliver keeps clients coming back to us. We have clients who continue to work with us even if they move companies or change careers as they have the confidence in us to deliver value through our various corporate solutions”.

Speaking about his key to success, Stefan adds, “Our organization culture is to work hard and play harder. I ensure our staff enjoy their work and that each individual is passionate about what they do. This helps us as a business to add value and sustainability in what we deliver and give more than what our clients expect from our services”.

Sandun Fernando, Lead Consultant & Trainer at 3WC also commented, “We are a house of entrepreneurship. At 3WC, we encourage innovation of ideas internally and help bring these to life. With our clients, we encourage ideas from its core culture and management teams, helping businesses to create and innovate on new visions that will take their organisations to the next level. We have assisted many individuals and corporates who have either started from scratch or zero base, and together, have gone through major business changes turning around the company towards achieving great successes. The long-term relationships we build with our clients go beyond mere business transactions, for 3WC; it’s about creating a true partnership that adds value, and a testimony to our dedication and quality consultancy.”

Throughout the years the 3W Group, as a credible organization, has added several feathers to its cap. 3WC was the local partner in The Competitiveness Initiative (TCI) national project where seven industries pioneered the development of Competitive Strategies for each industry based on the Michael Porters Diamond Model.  3WC brought the Global Retail Academy (GRA) to Sri Lanka to uplift standards in the Retail sector in 2017. 3WC together with ILO was involved in designing and launching a ground breaking apparel industry capacity building programme which was subsequently introduced to countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia and Ethiopia.  On a creative note, the Group initiated the first management theatre in the world and was a part of the first CEO Corporate Boot Camp to take CEOs to the Base Camp of Mount Everest.

According to the MD and Founder of the Group, The 3W Group’s vision is to transform corporate organisations and grow the wealth of its customers and partners whilst growing the wealth of its Group and Associates.
