BMICH commemorates Founders with Eye and Blood Donation campaigns

Blood Donation

S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation (BMICH) recently organised a series of Blood and Eye Donation campaigns, as well as Religious Observances, in commemoration of its Founders. Those who signed up to donate to Sri Lanka’s Eye Bank were also given free spectacles.

Undoubtedly resulting in a very real and direct impact on a large number of people in need, these meritorious donation activities were held in honour of the 58th death anniversary of the late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and the 17th death anniversary of the late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike.

“Our Founders were not only committed to Sri Lanka but also the world. It is our hope that our activities of merit such as these blood and eye donation campaigns will continue to honour them said Sunil Dissanayake, Director/CEO of the BMICH.

With hundreds of well-wishers and BMICH staff signing up to donate, the scope of this donation campaign was truly unprecedented. Importantly, it also marked the dedication to service embodied by two of Sri Lanka’s greatest national figures, the late S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, Sri Lanka’s fourth Prime Minister who was widely regarded as an international statesman and the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the modern world’s first female head of state.
