DIMO 800 receives accolade at National Green Awards 2017

DIMO has once again affirmed their ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship by receiving presidential recognition at the National Green Awards organized by Central Environment Authority. DIMO received a merit award, under the vehicle servicing category for their flagship location DIMO 800, Mercedes-Benz Centre of Excellence for the environmental efforts demonstrated in DIMO 800. DIMO was the only company from the Automobile sector to receive an award at the National Green Awards 2017. National Green Awards organized by the Central Environmental Authority acknowledges and appreciates the organizations, institutes and individuals that have made unique contribution to the field of environmental conservation.

Right from the onset, the management of DIMO unanimously decided to pursue a green building concept for the Center that would minimize their impact on the environment. This decision was made in line with the company’s sustainability thinking which is to “create stakeholder value while reducing the footprint throughout its entire value chain”. Therefore the Center has been designed with an emphasis on minimizing impact during construction while maximizing energy and water efficiency during the building’s operational lifetime. It employs the latest green technology such as a highly energy efficient chiller system together with high-efficiency HVAC equipment, LED lighting, a sophisticated centralized building management system, solar-heat-gain-reducing glass, passive shading devices, rain water harvesting, a water treatment plant, water-efficient fixtures, a drip irrigation system to minimize treated water use for landscape irrigation, as well as many more green features. Together these features have enabled DIMO 800 Mercedes-Benz Centre of Excellence to receive USGBC LEED Gold Certification. This building is a testament to DIMO’s commitment to the upholding of its integrity and commitment to service excellence while minimizing its environmental impact at all times.

Whilst this fully integrated automobile showroom and service centre contributes positively towards minimizing the impact on the environment, the routine operation at DIMO 800 is also carried out in a way that it creates the minimum adverse effect to the Environment. During all activities DIMO employees ensure the conservation of natural resources by reducing, reusing and recycling waste and minimizing pollution. DIMO’s environmental efforts will not only restrict to their business boundaries.Reaching beyond business boundaries, DIMO extends their collective responsibility in environment protection and conservation efforts with the motive of replenishing, restoring, and rejuvenating the environment and preserving it for future generations, within its means and reach. As a signatory to United Nations Global Compact DIMO ensures that the value added initiatives undertaken towards Environment Sustainability are in line with one or more Sustainable Development Goals declared by United Nations.
