Colombo, Sri Lanka, 31 October 2016 – Microsoft recently hosted a Supplier Communication and Compliance Awareness Session to educate and update suppliers the company frequently engages with, on the company code of conduct expectations. Microsoft is committed to ensuring trust and protection in compliance with suppliers and their employees, agents, and subcontractors.

Valued suppliers attended the compliance briefing at the Microsoft Sri Lanka office. The session was conducted by Jacqueline Koh, Senior Procurement Engagement Manager Indonesia, Malaysia, South East Asia New Markets, Microsoft while Brian Kealey, Microsoft Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives delivered the key note.

“As digital transformation takes over, more companies are moving to the cloud and licensing agreements are lost in translation. By equipping valued suppliers with the right knowledge on compliance, we at Microsoft hope to influence a wide network, ensuring the digital transformation happens ethically and within the company’s affirmations,” said Brian Kealey.

As one of Sri Lanka’s leading textile manufacturer, having completed the initial Rs. 1 billion expansion program, South Asia Textiles as now decided to embark on another very ambitious expansion programme to infuse the very latest state-of-art textile technology and machinery into its existing factory. Some of the machinery to be introduced will be the aerodynamic Air-Flow textile dye machines with absolute minimal usage of water, a continuous washer which saves water consumption up to 40% of the regular usage and a modern fully automated 10 chamber stenter which enhances efficiency and quality of the fabrics produced.

South Asia Textiles CEO/MD Mr. Prithiv Dorai noted that the plan has been set up to make the entire factory a Green Project within one year, thus making South Asia Textiles the first Textile Manufacturer to go green. Two large bio-mass and fossil fuel fired THERMIC & STEAM boilers have already been installed providing steam and heat generation for dyeing and finishing divisions.

Whilst recording a strong growth rate, several areas of expansion coupled with installation of latest technology and a process improvement has been the company’s main objective. Success in achieving ZERO DISCHARGE OF HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL (ZDHC) has added strength in keeping with international requirements and standards.

According to South Asia Textiles CEO/MD Mr. Prithiv Dorai, the year 2018 will be landmark year for the company as the ground work has begun for absolute Zero Discharge be achieved.

An exciting new online design and print ordering resource has been unveiled in Sri Lanka by Print Point (Pvt) Ltd., a leading on-demand, quick-print digital printing specialist. ( the new Web2Print portal enables customers to design anything from a visiting card to a 10-foot large-format banner by customising templates on the site, entering their specifications, calculating the print cost, and confirming and paying for the job, all from the convenience of their homes or offices.

The printed material can be picked up from the Print Point office at Union Place, Colombo 2 or be delivered to the customer’s address. According to the owner of the service, the process can result in up to 70 per cent faster order turnaround when compared with working with a graphic designer and visiting the print outlet.

The site can also be accessed and used via a smartphone with no loss in functionality, the company said.

“This facility is perfect for small, urgent print jobs of individuals and corporate entities because it saves time, costs and hassle,” said Ashan Abeyesundere, Chairman and CEO of Papyrus Corporation, the company that owns Print Point and “It is also very useful for repeat printing because the system allows users to save their artwork for later use.”

He said the complete range of printing services on offer at Print Point’s new purpose-built digital printing facility at Union Place can be accessed by the web portal.
