International Medical Campus join hands with Gomel State Medical University to launch Pre-Medicine Programme in Sri Lanka

19 July 2017: International Medical Campus (IMC) – Sri Lanka’s premier provider of medical university pathway programs to leading medical universities around the globe, officially announced its strategic partnership with Gomel State Medical University (GSMU) in Belarus recently, in a bid to provide quality and affordable medical education for Sri Lankan students.

The official launch of the Gomel State Medical University International Study Center and the Advanced Level Embedded Pre-Medicine Programme in Sri Lanka was graced by Prof. Svetlana Anashkina, First Vice Rector, Gomel State Medical University, Dr. Gishan Sumanasiri, Executive Director/CEO International Medical campus (IMC), and Dr. Dharangan Bakthaseelan, Executive Director/Director Finance, International Medical Campus (IMC) and other officials from : International Medical Campus and Gomel State Medical University.

The pre-medicine programme, which has been crafted carefully under the purview of GSMU academic panel, will provide a solid platform for Sri Lankan students who wish to study medicine in Belarus. If a student wish to pursue higher studies related to medical science in the Gomel State Medical University but has completed O/Levels Successfully  will be able to do so upon completing the Advanced Level (Edexel) Embedded one year Pre Medicine Programme conducted by International Medical Campus in collaboration with GSMU.

The Advanced Level Embedded One year pre medicine program is conducted by highly acclaimed and reputed lecturers in the caliber of Dr. Inoka C. Perera, Senior Lecturer, University of Colombo (Biology), Mr. V. Selvarajan, Head of English Medium at Royal College (Chemistry) and Mr. S.  Nirmalan (Physics). Since the Pre-Medicine program is embedded with Advanced Level and students will sit for the advanced level (Edexel) examination. The pre-medicine programme will be offered at a very affordable cost.

Expressing his views about this new partnership, Dr. Gishan Sumanasiri Executive Director/CEO of IMC said, “Gomel State Medical University in Belarus has an advanced system of education. Training of medical professionals is based on the up-to-date education technologies of higher and medical secondary education, with the combination of high-tech methods of practical medicine. This enables students to be competitive and flexible and adaptable in the field of medicine from a global context.”

Gomel State Medical University is a state medical institution that is owned and operated by the government of Belarus. The University comprise of the Faculty of General Medicine, Faculty of Medical Diagnostics, Faculty of Pre-University Training and the Faculty of General Medicine for Overseas Students with more than 4000 students. Faculty of General Medicine for overseas students was established in 2000 and its foreign student population now consists of more than 550 students from 30 different countries including USA, France, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, UK, Nigeria, Peru, etc.

Commenting about the official launch of the GSMU International Study Center and pre-medicine programme in Sri Lanka, Prof. Svetlana Anashkina, First Vice Rector of GSMU said, “GSMU Pre-Medicine programs are designed in a way where it allows students to save more than two years from their education while allowing parents to save a huge sum of money out of their education investment, making the whole programme highly affordable. More importantly, the Sri Lankan Medical Council (SLMC) recognizes GSMU Medical Degrees so as several other endorsing bodies around the world such as the ECFMG in USA, GMC in UK, AMC in Australia, MCI in India and WHO.

The Pre-Medicine program prepare students for London A/Level ( Edexel) curriculum with an assurance of meeting and exceeding Sri Lanka Medical Council’s minimum eligibility criteria and university admission criteria. Students are guided by an expert panel of Ph.D. qualified professors from local and foreign universities who have years of industry experience.
