11th September 2023 – Colombo: Hameedia, Sri Lanka’s leading menswear brand synonymous with style and quality, has once again contributed towards ensuring environment protection in Sri Lanka by organising a beach cleanup project titled “Wella Beach Upgrade” at the Wellawatte Beach as part of the “Re-Build Sri Lanka” initiative. The event was spearheaded by Hameedia’s CSR arm Lifeworth together with partner organisations Sri Lanka Life Saving and Rainbow Swimming.

The Wellawatte Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in Sri Lanka with its beautiful, blue water and golden sand. Hameedia, Sri Lanka’s leading menswear brand that is synonymous with style and quality, marked International Women’s Day with a special knowledge-sharing event for all of its female employees at the Head Office in Ratmalana on 8th March. The event was the highlight of a series of sessions Hameedia is conducting throughout the months of February and March focused on educating its female workforce and covering a wide selection of related topics including hygiene and grooming, women’s rights, sexual harassment and online safety and health and wellness.

The event, which was attended by around 400 female employees of Hameedia, witnessed informative presentations on different areas vital to women made by leading female personalities in different fields. Ramani Fernando, an iconic figure in the hair and beauty industry in Sri Lanka, conducted a special session on personal grooming where she provided the audience with advice and guidance on how to groom oneself to look good every time. Attorney-at-Law Naushalya Rajapaksha from The Yeheliya Foundation educated the audience about women’s rights and women empowerment, both in the workplace and in their daily lives as they navigate through today’s complex society. The Yeheliya Foundation is a charitable foundation which strives to create a space for young girls and women from different walks of life to strive towards creating an equal platform for their female counterparts. Additionally, Indira Cancer Trust (ICT) Foundation Trustee Attorney-at-Law Yenuka Premarathne conducted a session on the importance of personal health and the latest information on the dangers of breast cancer along with how one should tackle this dangerous disease. Following the conclusion of the event, all participants were presented with gifts.

05th December 2022 – Colombo: Hameedia, Sri Lanka’s leading menswear brand that is synonymous with style and quality, donated Rs.1 million to Indira Cancer Trust (ICT) at a ceremony organised recently, continuing the strong partnership built in the recent years between both organisations. The donation was the latest sales proceeds from Hameedia’s ‘Pink Collection’ range, a special all-pink clothing collection for ladies and gents specially designed and marketed by Hameedia to support the ICT. This was an initiative under the social responsibility promise of the Hameedia Group’s My Friend Foundation, an organization focused on improving the lives of children in underprivileged communities.

The Chief Guest at the ceremony was celebrated cricketing personality Roshan Mahanama while the event was also graced by the presence of Dr. Lanka Jayasuriya Dissanayake – Chairperson/Trustee of the Indira Cancer Trust (ICT) Foundation, together with Fouzul Hameed – Managing Director of Hameedia and Certified Menswear Image Consultant (USA) and several other invitees and Hameedia team members.

It was a continuation of ICT’s breast cancer awareness month campaign, ‘TLC: Touch, Look, Check’ of October 2020.
