Regen Renewables (Pvt) Ltd. (Regen Solar), a pioneering force in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector, is proud to celebrate 12 years of industry leadership — a journey defined by innovation, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to a cleaner, brighter future. Today, the company proudly surpasses a major milestone: over 80 megawatts (MW) of installed solar capacity powering homes, businesses, and industries across the island.

What began as a passionate startup with a bold vision has grown into a national leader in clean energy solutions — helping drive Sri Lanka’s transition toward sustainability and energy independence.

“This milestone is more than just a number,” said Dr. Lakmal Fernando, CEO and Managing Director of Regen Renewables. “It represents over a decade of dedication, collaboration, and purpose. Every solar panel we’ve installed is part of a larger mission — to empower communities and industries with clean, reliable, and affordable energy. While we celebrate 12 years of progress, our eyes are firmly set on the future.

Regen’s journey has been marked by key recognitions, including accolades under the Surya Bala Sangramaya initiative — Sri Lanka’s flagship rooftop solar promotion program. The company was honored for its technical excellence and far-reaching contributions to expanding solar access across the country.

But Regen’s impact extends far beyond installations. The company has played an influential role in shaping national energy policy, holding leadership positions in critical organizations such as the Solar Industries Association — where it’s past honorary secretary position being held for number of years by Regens’ MD and actively contributing to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Sri Lanka as a Board Director (SLSEA).

Dr. Fernando currently chairs the Renewable Energy Standing Subcommittee of the National Chamber of Commerce, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote investment-friendly, forward-looking energy policies.

The company also champions regulatory reform, working hand-in-hand with government bodies to streamline processes, remove investment barriers, and accelerate the shift to renewables.

Yet, Regen’s commitment to transformation doesn’t stop with policy and infrastructure. The company invests in people — offering mentorship, skills development, and training programs that build local capacity and nurture the next generation of clean energy professionals and entrepreneurs.

As Sri Lanka moves toward its long-term climate and sustainability goals, Regen Renewables stands ready — as it has for the past 12 years — to light the way.

“We are not just building systems,” added Dr. Fernando. “We’re building resilience, opportunity, and hope — for every home, every business, and every future generation.”

Regen Renewables continues to champion sustainable energy, policy innovation, and inclusive growth across the island. Their clientele includes both public and private sector organizations including CEB, LECO, Ministry of Finance, UNDP, CEAT, Hidramani Group, Akbar Brothers, Wind Force, Jaya Jay Mills, Aitken Spence and Lanka Transformers group to name a few.
