The theme of “Ensure quality education, build a discrimination-free Bangladesh” was set on 10 May 2025 Saturday, The ‘National Primary Education Week 2025′ was inaugurated and the Primary Education Medal 2024 was presented at the conference room of the Department of Primary Education in Dhaka. Awards were given to the best individuals and institutions in 14 categories and to the first place winners in 18 categories (boys and girls) of the students’ sports, culture and subject-based quiz competitions. At the individual level, the best district primary education officer was Sherpur District Primary Education Officer Md. Obaidullah, the best superintendent of Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) was Tangail PTI Superintendent Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, the best upazila education officer was Nilphamari’s Syedpur Upazila Education Officer Md. Zakir Hossain Sarkar, the best PTI instructor was Rajshahi PTI instructor Md. Kamruzzaman, the best upazila resource center (URC) instructor was Nilphamari’s Dimlar instructor Md. Masud Karim, the best assistant upazila education officer was Habiganj’s Madhabpur Upazila Assistant Upazila Education Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam, the best assistant upazila education officer was Padmapara Government Primary School in Gabtoli, Bogra, the best headmaster was Md. Mostafa Kamal, the best headmistress was Nilphamari’s Syedpursha Subordinate Colony Government Primary School Shiuli Sultana, the best assistant teacher was Md. Inam Ullah Khan, assistant teacher of Sharerganj Government Primary School in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, the best assistant teacher was Farzana Islam, assistant teacher of Hasania Government Primary School in Jamalpur Sadar, the best assistant teacher was Moha: Matiar Rahman, assistant teacher of Harinakundusha Kulyagacha Government Primary School in Jhenaidah district, the best teacher was Mohammad Mohin Uddin, computer operator of the District Primary Education Office in Noakhali, the best employee was Mohammad Mohin Uddin. At the institutional level, the best primary school was Subrata Khajanji Government Primary School in Chirirbandar, Dinajpur, and the best PTI was Rajshahi PTI.
Education Advisor Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar inaugurated the ‘National Primary Education Week 2025’ as the chief guest and presented the Primary Education Award 2024. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Advisor to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and Abu Nur Md. Shamsuzzaman, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, delivered speeches.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has taken the initiative to award Primary Education Medals with the aim of developing the talents of children, encouraging and inspiring teachers, officials and employees and individuals related to primary education in their creative work and recognizing their contributions through competitions. The Primary Education Medal distribution program has been running since 1985. It was decided to award a total of 108 awards in 18 categories (boys and girls) to the winners according to the first, second and third places through sports, culture and subject-based quiz competitions of students and a total of 150 awards including 42 awards according to the first, second and third places in 14 categories at the individual and institutional levels. The first, second and third place winners in the student competition will receive medals and certificates with 30, 25 and 20 thousand taka respectively and the best place holders at the individual level will receive medals and certificates with 50 thousand taka and the best place holders at the institutional level will receive crests and certificates with 50 thousand taka.
On the occasion of the celebration of National Primary Education Week 2025, there will be an inaugural ceremony at the national level as well as at the upazila/thana level and a discussion meeting with the participation of local administration and power-hungry individuals on the theme “Ensure quality education, build a discrimination-free Bangladesh”, beautiful handwriting and drawing competitions for students, educational and cultural programs; at the school level, a school cleanliness drive led by students and teachers under the leadership of the school’s student council, club members and little doctors, decoration with educational materials prepared by students and teachers, and a speech and quiz competition by students on the theme “Ensure quality education, build a discrimination-free Bangladesh”.
