BYD’s high-end brand YANGWANG, unveils its first pure electric supercar model U9, priced at 1.68 million RMB, and will start delivering in this summer.
The YANGWANG U9 reaches a top speed of 309.19 km/h and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds.

Powered by two core technologies, the e⁴ platform and the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, revolutionizing the pure electric supercar segment, seamlessly integrating track performance, street adaptability, and playful features.

The e4 Platform is a power system with four independent electric motors as its core, featuring agile and precise and four-wheel independent torque output control, bringing users the BEST in safety, performance, and experience.

The YANGWANG U9 reaches a top speed of 309.19 km/h and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds, with 0-400m acceleration in only 9.78 seconds. The U9 has been equipped with a fine-tuned thermal management system to better risist high temperatures, resulting in a 100% increase in maximum cooling capacity.

Moreover, the Blade Battery facilitates discharging and cooling functions and Dual Plug-in Ultra-fast charging technology boasts a maximum charging power of 500 kW.

The YANGWANG U9 boasts the Super Carbon-fiber Cabin, a structure made of different materials, ensuring comprehensive travel safety.

Equipped with the DiLink150 intelligent platform, powered by customized 4nm 5G chips, specifically designed for track driving, the U9 boasts an intelligent racing assistantance, providing extensive track driving services with detailed information on nearly 30 racetracks across China.

The milestone comes in the wake of BYD’s most recent collaboration with Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate, John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH), to provide a wide range of cutting edge New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), ushering in a new era of economical, and eco-conscious mobility solutions for the Sri Lankan market.

Hong Kong’s home carrier Cathay Pacific’s much awaited direct flights between Sri Lanka and Hong Kong are officially back following a four-year hiatus, resuming a legacy of serving the Sri Lankan market for over 30 years.

The first flight from Bandaranaike International Airport successfully took off today (Friday, 2 February), marking the return of Cathay Pacific’s three-times-weekly service from Colombo, operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights are operated by the airline’s Airbus A330 aircraft, offering 28 fully flat seats in Business class and 265 spacious seats in Economy, ensuring a comfortable and premium travel experience for all customers.

For both business and leisure travellers, the flights will serve as a gateway, offering exceptional connectivity via Hong Kong to Asia, the Southwest Pacific and North America. The airline is also promoting special fares for students travelling from Colombo to Sydney, Auckland, Singapore, Tokyo, and Kuala Lumpur.

The resumption comes at an opportune time with Hong Kong gearing up for the iconic Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens in April 2024. Meanwhile, a rebound is underway across markets including the Chinese Mainland and Japan signalling an uptick in regional corporate and group travel in the months ahead.

On the cargo side, flights with a belly capacity of 15 to 25 tonnes facilitate fresh seafood exports leveraging Cathay’s specialised Cathay Fresh product. Sri Lanka’s expanding economy also promises growth in air freight across agriculture produce, fisheries and manufacturing verticals.

BYD Annual Sales Exceeds 3 Million Units

BYD has concluded 2023 with record-breaking sales volume, which surpasses the 3 million annual sales target and becomes the global new energy vehicle (NEV) sales champion, for the second year in a row. This year also marks BYD being listed among the global top 10 of car sales for the first time. In the Chinese market, BYD retained its position as the best-selling car brand and manufacturer.

December saw sales of 341,043 units, a 45% increase, culminating in a total of 3,024,417 vehicles sold throughout the year, a substantial 61.9% surge from the previous year.

Leap in Export and Globalization

In 2023, BYD’s international market presence surged remarkably, with exports growing by 334.2% to 242,765 units and its reach across over 70 countries on six continents. BYD further consolidated its presence in the South Asian region, with its most recent partnership with Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC.

With BYD’s technological prowess and commitment to providing global consumers with more eco-friendly and efficient mobility solutions, coupled with the support from global top-tier partners, BYD’s technology and products have been favoured by numerous global consumers and given a multitude of product recognitions.

Extensive Brand Martix with Strong Market Response

In 2023, BYD completed its brand matrix, including the Dynasty series, Ocean series, DENZA, FANGCHENGBAO, and YANGWANG. This development solidifies BYD’s position as having one of the most extensive portfolios in the global new energy sector.

Dynasty and Ocean series achieved impressive sales of 2,877,353 units, marking a 55.3% increase from the previous year. DENZA sold 127,840 units in 2023, with the DENZA D9 emerging as the annual MPV sales champion. Besides, the upcoming OTA for DENZA N7 is set to showcase BYD’s leading position in intelligent vehicle technology.

YANGWANG and FANGCHENGBAO, both launched in 2023 and initiated deliveries in November, received excellent market responses. YANGWANG U8 emerged as a top seller in the million-level NEV segment, while BAO 5 established a strong foothold in the off-road segment.

From leading China’s NEV market to becoming the top global NEV seller, and now ranking among the top ten in the global automotive industry, BYD has showcased the vast potential of the new energy sector. The all-new forged aluminium piston is 5% lighter which produces a peak power of 35.6 PS @ 9,700 rpm and maximum torque of 28.7 Nm @ 6,650 rpm. The engine is tuned for all range torque delivery which gives you unlimited thrill across the power band and the fastest in segment 0-60 of 2.81 secs

The power is delivered through a 6-speed transmission with all new Bi Directional Quickshifter. The quickshifter is specially tuned for widest operating range starting from 2,300 rpm all the way to the red line. The state-of-the-art Throttle-By-Wire system comprises of an intelligent 46mm large throttle body that provides a crisp power delivery. Additionally, the motorcycle offers Race Tuned Linear Stability Control (RT-LSC) that includes straight line dual channel ABS, Cruise control, Linear Traction Control and rear lift protection. The first in segment cruise control maintains the set speed without any throttle or clutch input helping in reducing rider fatigue over long distance riding. The cruise control feature allows you to downshift and upshift up to 2 gears to achieve optimum cruise rpm and use cruise for longer period.

The TVS Apache RTR 310 sports a forward biased mass with an upswept sleek tail giving it a unique streetfighter silhouette. The DRL, headlamp and tail lamp are all designed to give a menacing cyborg look. The unique lightweight aluminium sub frame embodies an exoskeletal look that maximizes its agility. The all new lightweight 8 spoke dual coloured alloy wheels enhance the flamboyance. The Hyper Spec trellis frame of the TVS Apache RTR 310 is designed to provide excellent dynamic response at higher speeds, greater agility and ease of manoeuvrability.

Built on a foundation of advanced technology, the motorcycle is equipped with 5 ride modes namely Urban, Rain, Sports, Track and the all-new Supermoto mode that disengages the rear ABS while maximizing the power. The horizontal 5” TFT race computer offers unique UI themes, and customizable settings including traction control, cruise control, quickshifter, climatic seat control, TPMS, headlamp brightness and DRL control. The SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity links the TVS Apache RTR 310 with your smartphone offering a series of features including telephony, music control, GoPro control, smart helmet connectivity, voice assist, race telemetry, precise turn by turn navigation with what3words, digi docs and crash alert.
