David Pieris Renewable Energy (Private) Limited (DPRE), a member of the David Pieris Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Sampath Bank PLC to make solar energy more accessible and affordable across Sri Lanka.

The collaboration introduces a series of exclusive green loan facilities tailored for individuals and businesses eager to adopt solar power solutions and lower their energy costs. The combination of Sampath Bank’s island-wide reach and DPRE’s deep industry expertise promises to accelerate the transition to clean energy across the country.

The agreement was officially signed in the presence of senior representatives from both institutions. Representing Sampath Bank were Deepal De Silva, Senior Deputy General Manager – Operations & Branch Banking; Keshan Dabare, Chief Manager – Branch Banking; Dilum Ilayperuma, Manager – Lending Products and Sandaruwan Kodagoda, Assistant Manager – Lending Products. DPRE was represented by Jayantha Ratnayake, Chairman & Managing Director; Samantha Silva, Executive Director; Lahiru Vitharana, General Manager – Finance, Strategy & Operations; Prasanna Dissanayake, Assistant General Manager – Sales & Marketing and Risil Rajasinghe, Assistant Manager, Electrical Engineering.

Solar energy is environmentally-friendly and empowers households and businesses to eliminate their electricity bills and earn additional income by selling surplus energy back to the national grid. With the right system, customers can run any electrical device without hesitation and enjoy a reliable alternative source of revenue. This timely collaboration effectively opens up opportunities for homeowners, entrepreneurs, corporates, factories and the general public who wish to invest in sustainable energy systems and need financing support to make that shift.

Sampath Bank is offering an attractive suite of green loan products under this agreement. Individuals can secure loans up to Rs. 5 million at a fixed interest rate of 10.5% per annum, while amounts above Rs. 5 million are available at 11% per annum. Customers taking home loans that include solar integration will receive an additional interest reduction of 0.25%, providing even greater affordability. Small and medium manufacturing enterprises eligible for refinance can benefit from special loans between Rs. 10 million and panel capacities up to 50 kW at an exceptionally concessionary rate of just 6.5% per annum. Those installing solar systems up to 5 kW can obtain loans of up to Rs. 1.25 million without the need for collateral – a key step in reducing financial barriers to solar adoption.

DPRE will complement these green financing options with a comprehensive package of value-added services designed to enhance customer experience and system longevity. Customers will receive free CEB clearance, grid connection, and the first year’s insurance. In addition, they are entitled to two free maintenance services within the first year, followed by a 25% discount on future maintenance visits. The solar systems provided include high-quality Tier 1, N-Type panels backed by a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty as well as 10-year workmanship warranty, alongside inverters from reputed brands offering a 10-year warranty. These superior components ensure durability and long-term performance.

“At David Pieris Renewable Energy, we combine innovative solar technology with the strength and trust of over four decades of excellence from the David Pieris Group. What makes our offering truly unique is not just the superior quality of our products and services, but also the value we deliver through long-term warranties, free services and comprehensive support. Sampath Bank, with its strong reputation and extensive islandwide presence, is an ideal partner for this initiative. This collaboration enables us to extend our reach to more Sri Lankans, empowering them to embrace clean energy while easing the financial burden. Together, we are helping build a greener, more energy-secure future for the nation,” commented Prasanna Dissanayake, Assistant General Manager – Sales and Marketing, David Pieris Renewable Energy (Private) Limited.
