DFCC Bank PLC, a founding member of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP), represented Sri Lanka at the 48th ADFIAP Annual Meeting held from 23rd to 25th April 2025 in Muscat, Oman. In addition to showcasing leadership in digital transformation, human capital development, and regional collaboration, DFCC Bank was officially announced as the host of the 49th ADFIAP Annual Meeting, which will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2026.

ADFIAP is the premier regional organisation of development banks and financial institutions financing sustainable development. Established in 1976, it currently comprises 131 member institutions across 45 countries. ADFIAP promotes collaboration, knowledge exchange, and policy leadership in areas such as infrastructure, climate finance, SME development, and financial inclusion. It is a recognised voice in global forums and works closely with multilateral agencies, UN bodies, and regional economic platforms. DFCC Bank has been a Charter Member of ADFIAP since 1st October 1976.

The 2025 Annual Meeting brought together leaders from 97 member institutions and global development finance partners. DFCC Bank’s delegation included Senior Management and the CEO Thimal Perera. DFCC Bank’s contribution to the event featured a technical presentation by Vindya Solangaarachchi titled “Enabling the Shift: How a Cost-Efficient Core Banking System Lays the Groundwork for AI and Data-Driven Digital Transformation”. The session highlighted how the Bank is leveraging scalable infrastructure to balance innovation and cost-effectiveness in the journey toward digital maturity.

Adding further regional relevance, DFCC Bank’s fintech subsidiary Synapsys formalised a strategic partnership with ADFIAPNet, the Association’s technology arm, to assist member institutions in upgrading legacy core banking systems. Reinforcing confidence in Sri Lankan-developed solutions, the Land Bank of the Philippines also signed an agreement to adopt Synapsys’ ABANX platform for its affiliated cooperatives.

As a key outcome of the 2025 meeting, it was formally announced that DFCC Bank will host the 49th ADFIAP Annual Meeting in Colombo in 2026. This major regional event will bring global development finance leaders to Sri Lanka and spotlight the country’s evolving financial sector and DFCC Bank’s leadership.

DFCC Bank was also honoured with a Merit Award for Human Capital Development under the ADFIAP Outstanding Development Project Awards. The award recognises the Bank’s OMMM Committee, an internal wellness initiative aligned with the ‘Exercise’ pillar of DFCC Bank’s ESG-based 6Es Sustainability Framework. Activities such as group cycling, Zumba sessions, nutrition workshops, and mental health programmes have helped foster a healthier, more engaged workforce.

As it continues to drive innovation, talent development, and global collaboration, DFCC Bank reaffirms its role as a purpose-driven financial institution committed to inclusive and sustainable progress within Sri Lanka and across the region.
