
Colombo, Sri Lanka, 15 May 2025: Top delegates from Exide Industries, India, will visit Sri Lanka on 19th May to mark Browns’ 150th anniversary. The celebrations will culminate on 22nd May in Colombo, showcasing the company’s continuous commitment to improving lives in Sri Lanka and setting the vision for the next 150 years.
Browns’ historical journey is closely linked with Exide Industries India, a global leader in battery technology since 1947. Together, they have propelled Sri Lanka’s battery industry through their partnership in Associated Battery Manufacturers (Ceylon) Limited (ABM). Established in 1960 as a joint venture, ABM produces Exide, Lucas, and Dagenite batteries, delivering reliable solutions that support Sri Lanka’s automotive and industrial sectors.
Exide Industries India has been instrumental in supporting ABM through its state-of-the-art R&D division, introducing advancements in battery technology that enhance efficiency, durability, and sustainability. This technical expertise has enabled ABM to produce high-performance batteries not only for the domestic market but also for export, contributing to Sri Lanka’s economic growth and global presence.
