Fire outbreak brought Under Control at Ecocycle Pre-Processing Premises in Katunayake.

Katunayake, 3rd Feb 2021: In the early hours of the morning on 3rd February 2021, a fire was reported in Ecocycle at the Katunayake Free Trade Zone. The fire was quickly and efficiently brought under control with the immediate help and support of the Airport and Aviation fire brigade, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Navy, Katunayake BOI Fire Brigade and the Fire Service Department of Colombo, with the guidance of the Disaster Management Center. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Once the investigation is completed we will take additional measures to further strengthen the safety aspects of our operations.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Board of Investment, Central Environment Authority, Sri Lanka Police, Legislative Bodies, District Factory Engineering section of Ministry of Labour and PHI – Katunayake for their valued cooperation extended in assisting to manage the situation urgently.
