The annual Galle Fort Tennis Tournament 2025 will be held on May 16, 17 and 18 at the Galle Fort Tennis Courts, situated within the iconic Dutch Fort in Galle. The tournament, orgainsed and conducted by the Galle Services Club under the leadership of its President Kumar Chandrawanka, will be mainly for junior tennis players of Under-16 and Under-12.

The Category 5 Ranking Tournament, sanctioned by Sri Lanka Tennis Association, will include Singles and Doubles for boys and girls of age categories of Under-16 and Under-12, who will compete over the three days. Last year, Galle Services Club conducted the annual Galle Fort Tennis during May 10 to 13 at its two-court facility, where only Singles events were held for boys and girls of the age categories of Under-18 and Under-14.

Sasen Premarathne won the Boy’s Under-18 Singles title beating Murad Mubarak while Mayank Vithanaarachchi overcame Nithushan Pulinathan to emerge the Boy’s Under-14 Singles champion. Vinuthi Kulathilaka beat Sheshandri Fernando to secure the Girl’s Under-14 Singles title as the Girl’s Under-18 Singles event did not proceed due to low number of entries.

The Galle Services Club, which was renamed in 1947 from Galle Gymkhana Lawn Tennis Club established in 1885, has altered the age categories this year with expectations of attracting more entries to the two segments of Under-16 and Under-12 according to Senaka de Silva, the Chairman of the Organising Committee.
