A high-level delegation from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), led by its President Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, the newly appointed Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), at his office on 12 May 2025 Monday.
During the meeting, the ICMAB delegation congratulated Dr. Bhuiyan on his appointment and expressed confidence in his visionary leadership. They noted his academic brilliance and professional acumen, emphasizing their belief that under his stewardship, the FRC will play a transformative role in strengthening financial governance and discipline across public interest entities in Bangladesh.
The discussion focused on avenues for enhanced collaboration between FRC and ICMAB, particularly in promoting the role of Cost Audit as a vital instrument in economic governance. The delegation underscored the need to broaden the implementation of Cost Audit practices and sought FRC’s active support in institutionalizing these measures.
Additionally, ICMAB proposed the inclusion of CMA Firms in various incentive audit assignments, highlighting how their participation can further the national agenda of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in financial reporting.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fostering long-term cooperation in the pursuit of improved financial governance, transparency, and public sector accountability.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Mohammed Jahangir Alam FCMA, Council Member, and Mr. Md. Mahbub-Ul-Alam FCMA, Executive Director of ICMAB.
