The 30th National Bartenders Competition(NBC), Sri Lanka’s most prestigious bartending event, is off to a strong start, celebrating three decades of mixology excellence, creativity, and professional growth. Powered by International Distillers Ltd (IDL) and organized by the Sri Lanka Hospitality Graduates Association (SLHGA) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM), the competition continues to play a key role in shaping the future of the country’s hospitality sector.

This year’s edition comes at a time of renewed momentum in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry and a revival of the local bartending scene. As the market leader in Locally Manufactured Foreign Liquor (LMFL), IDL enters its third consecutive year supporting the competition — reaffirming its commitment to uplifting the industry by championing local spirits and ingredients, nurturing emerging talent, and raising the overall standard of mixology and service across the island.

So far, two of the six regional rounds have been successfully completed. The Cultural Triangle & East Coast regional was held at Heritance Kandalama, where three winners from both the Classic and Flair categories were selected for the semifinals. The second round, covering the Kandy & Nuwara Eliya region, took place at The Grand Kandyan Hotel, producing another six semifinalists from the area.

The competitions have showcased an impressive level of talent, with participants demonstrating creativity, precision, and confidence. A notable highlight has been the strong presence of female bartenders, reflecting the competition’s evolving and inclusive outlook.

With four more regional rounds — Down South, Deep Down South, Negombo, and Colombo — yet to take place, the journey toward the national finals is gaining momentum.

With IDL’s continued support, the 2025 edition is shaping up to be the most dynamic and impactful to date — reaffirming Sri Lanka’s position as a rising hub for hospitality excellence and beverage innovation.
