Pelwatte Dairy Industries, the Local Dairy Giant bags multiple awards across several categories at the Achiever Awards 2020 which was held for the 19th consecutive year, organized by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries on the 26th of March 2021 at Galadari Hotel.

Pelwatte bagged a Merit Award in the manufacturing sector in the National levels in the extra-large category and a Joint Bronze award in the manufacturing sector in the Provincial levels of the same.

The CNCI achiever awards signifies and rewards industrialists who have extensively contributed to the industrial and economic growth in the varied sectors in the past year. This year’s event especially recognized the companies which have remained resilient while adding value to the economy during the last fiscal year, even amidst the challenges owing to the effects of the global pandemic.

Mr. Laksiri Amaratunga, General Manager for Pelwatte Dairy, commenting on the recognition said, “The Awards and accolades are a testament to the continuous contribution rendered by our team across all divisions in all parts of the country. I am pleased to know that we were able to create a positive impact on the industry, country and especially on peoples’ lives.”

He added saying, “This is a reflection of our vision of creating a fully self-sufficient dairy industry in the country while staying true to our values of unmatched quality and offerings.”

The CNCI Achievers awards reflects on the company performance in terms of its size, category and sector, aligning to the contribution towards the GDP, the factors of employment and job security, the drivers of foreign exchange, CSR initiatives, quality of life of employees and stakeholders and many other development activities. The Awards also reflect upon the prospects of the obligations towards Mother Nature and towards all parties of the Community.

Pelwatte was also greatly commended for its contribution during the lockdown earlier last year where it offered free door-to-door delivery service and conducted several CSR and consumer reach projects to help the nation cope with the pandemic. Moreover, extreme safety and hygiene precautions were implemented and sustained to ensure that milk production continued despite any escalation in the coronavirus outbreak.

The company has always been intently focused on meeting the country’s domestic milk demand while uplifting the socio-economic status of local dairy farmers. While the nation’s self-sufficiency in milk production remains the primary mission, Pelwatte Dairy supports farmers, their livelihoods and families in myriad ways – empowering them and steering their growth as well as that of the nation.
