The 12th annual CFA Society Sri Lanka Capital Market Awards is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, 24 June 2025, at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams. A signature event in the CFA Society Sri Lanka calendar since its inception in 2012, the CFA Society Sri Lanka Capital Market Awards looks to provide valuable insights from key stakeholders who are major proponents of the awards, which recognize and reward professionals who have established benchmarks for the advancement of domestic capital market participants.
In renewing its partnership as the Platinum Partner of CFA Society Sri Lanka for the eighth consecutive year, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has reinforced a shared commitment to promoting ethical standards, education, and professional excellence within the Sri Lankan investment industry. This longstanding collaboration also reflects the CSE’s dedication to advancing the capital markets and fostering valuable industry alliances.
The CSE and CFA Society Sri Lanka continue to collaborate on a range of initiatives, including the CFA Institute Research Challenge Sri Lanka, promoting investor education, and raising awareness about sustainable finance instruments such as green bonds.
Commenting on the state of the nation’s economy, Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange Dilshan Wirasekara says: “We believe that Sri Lanka stands at a very pivotal juncture in its history. I don’t think any of us have seen an opportunity as it has presented itself in our post-independent history.” He observes that the country has made a notable recovery from numerous crises, adding that “Sri Lanka is one of the most resilient nations in the world, having been through multiple turmoils, and having just come through a very challenging period of political turmoil, the COVID-19 pandemic and an economic crisis.”
Set against this backdrop, the CFA Society Sri Lanka Capital Market Awards plays a crucial role, especially considering the numerous changes being witnessed in the market. The awards help to shine a light on what is expected of capital market participants, with a particular focus on the upgrading of skills. In this context, the CSE Chairman posits that the CFA Society Sri Lanka Capital Market Awards have gained added relevance, given that it helps spur new funds to enter, renews foreign investor participation and improves industry standards.
As a longstanding partner in this endeavour, the CSE has commended CFA Society Sri Lanka for organizing the awards, and extended its congratulations to the award winners. Wirasekara adds, “While the CFA Society Sri Lanka Capital Market Awards continue to play a pivotal role in recognizing excellence, it is equally important that market participants uphold the core principles these awards represent—integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement,”. He further notes “In a rapidly evolving financial landscape, upskilling is not just an option, but a necessity. I encourage all professionals in the capital market to remain agile, embrace learning, and strive for ever-higher standards, so we can collectively elevate Sri Lanka’s position as a robust and globally competitive investment destination.”
