SLB conducts Shuttle Time training programmes in Yatiyantota and Kothmale Divisions

The Regional Development Committee (RDC) of Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) conducted two training programmes for teachers covering the Yatiyantota and Kothmale Educational Divisions on March 11th. The day-long programmes under the theme of Shuttle Time and Air Badminton Training for Teachers, were attended by 50 teachers from 25 schools each from the Yatiyantota and Kothmale Educational Divisions.
 



 

The programmes, spearheaded by Mr. Roshan Gunawardene, the Chairman of the RDC and Vice President of SLB, was conducted with the intention of promoting badminton at grassroots level and fostering the interest for the sport among young students as well as teachers. The programme covering the Kegalle District was held at the Dr. N.M. Perera Central College, Yatiyantota, while the programme for the Nuwara Eliya District was held at the Gamini Dissanayale National School in Kothmale, under the patronage of top officials of SLB as well as the members of the RDC.

“Through the training programmes, SLB intends to equip teachers with the required skills and knowledge to promote the sport of badminton and to develop the interest of students through their teaching methods. We are glad to announce that the two training programmes were successfully conducted with the participation of 100 teachers from 50 schools, with two teachers from each school in both districts,” stated Mr. Gunawardene, the RDC Chairman.
