SLT-MOBITEL, the National ICT Solutions Provider, proudly reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to innovation and youth empowerment by celebrating next-gen tech talent at the SLIoT Challenge 2025, Sri Lanka’s premier Internet of Things (IoT) competition, which concluded recently.
The event culminated in a successful Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony held at the University of Moratuwa. SLT-MOBITEL’s support towards the competition extended well beyond conventional assistance but played a meaningful role, driving SLIoT 2025 to greater heights.
Sponsored by SLT-MOBITEL and organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Moratuwa, in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), the SLIoT Challenge 2025 brought together hundreds of students and professionals from across the country. Participants competed in school, university, and open categories, showcasing groundbreaking IoT-based solutions designed to address real-world challenges and drive Sri Lanka’s digital transformation.
SLT-MOBITEL’s involvement was critical in shaping the event’s outcomes. SLT-MOBITEL organised a series of preparatory activities, including a hands-on school workshop on Microcontrollers and IoT Basics, held at the University of Moratuwa. Delivered by industry experts and undergraduate mentors, the workshop introduced students to foundational IoT principles and practical microcontroller programming, igniting curiosity and nurturing future innovators.
SLT-MOBITEL Chairman, Dr. Mothilal De Silva, attended the awards ceremony, joined by several senior officials from SLT-MOBITEL. The delegation applauded the participants for their dedication and ingenuity and warmly congratulated the winners for their inspiring innovations and outstanding performance. The competition showcased exceptional talent, with winning teams from each category recognized for their creativity and technical excellence.
In the School Category, first place was awarded to Neuroverse from Galahitiyawa Central College, whose innovative solution impressed the judges with its creativity and technical execution. Sentinel from St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, secured second place, while Senuka from R/Emb/Bodhiraja College earned third place, showcasing the remarkable potential of young minds in addressing real-world challenges through IoT.
In the University Category, all top honours were claimed by teams from the University of Moratuwa. Zypher secured first place for their standout solution, followed by Dyson Sphere in second place, and Aqua Guard in third, each showcasing advanced technical skills and forward-thinking applications of IoT technology.
In the Open Category, Smartcare from Kalutara claimed first place for their impactful and practical IoT innovation. Tech Tanks from Gampaha secured second place, while TeraNode from Galle took third place, reflecting the high level of ingenuity and problem-solving demonstrated by independent and professional innovators across the country.
Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to nurturing a digitally empowered Sri Lanka, SLT-MOBITEL will continue to support the winning teams with technical and business mentorship, complimentary SLT Data Centre hosting, access to mSpace APIs, and promotional opportunities via PeoTV and other SLT-MOBITEL media channels for a full year. This comprehensive support aims to help transform promising IoT concepts into commercially viable solutions that contribute to the growth of Sri Lanka’s digital economy.
