Sri Lanka’s Postpartum Wellness Pioneer: Momager Celebrates Five-Year Milestone

Tuesday, 20 May 2025, Colombo:  Momager, Sri Lanka’s first dedicated postpartum wellness service for mother’s, celebrates five transformative years of revolutionizing postpartum care through traditional benkung binding techniques and holistic recovery approaches. Founded in 2020 by Sarah Illyas, a mother of four who discovered the remarkable benefits of benkung binding after the birth of her first child. Momager has since contributed to and changed maternal recovery care in Sri Lanka.
 



 

Specializing in benkung binding, a centuries-old practice that promotes postpartum physical recovery, Momager also focuses on addressing the emotional and mental wellbeing of new mothers. Having supported over 3,000 mothers across Sri Lanka, with more than 300 women experiencing the remarkable benefits of benkung binding, Momager now celebrates its five-year milestone.

Celebrating this milestone and its journey, Sarah Illyas, Founder, Momager stated: “When I experienced benkung binding, I immediately recognized its transformative benefits and wanted to bring this ancient wisdom to Sri Lankan mothers who deserved specialized care during recovery. Celebrating five years is incredibly proud moment for us, and our Momager retreat brought together mothers to celebrate mothers.”

The event celebrating five years brought together 100 mothers to ‘Give Her Back Her Pink.’ The celebration also announced Momager’s partnership with wellness provider Adhitya Ayurveda Colombo, creating an unprecedented fusion of healing traditions for new mothers. The collaboration further represents a significant evolution in Momager’s services, combining traditional binding techniques with authentic Ayurvedic practices.

Highlighting the partnership, Yasas Gunawardhana, Director, Adhitya Ayurveda Pvt LTD stated: “Partnering with Momager marks a meaningful milestone for Adhitya Ayurveda Colombo, as we believe that when a mother heals, she nurtures the healing of an entire community. Momager’s comprehensive services now include specialized postpartum recovery packages, the popular post-natal massage service is now available to all women, along with a newly launched prenatal program. During the anniversary event, Momager also unveiled its unique new wellness products, a luxurious golden oil for hair and body care specially formulated for new mothers.
