“Every Woman is a Queen” sang Queen Latifah, and on March 8, ODEL rolled out the right royal treatment for all women customers visiting its flagship store at Alexandra Place, to celebrate International Women’s Day with the élan and extravagance the store is reputed for.

Every woman entering the portals of the grand mansion on that day was greeted with a courteous bow and a gift of a branded cushion in purple, the colour associated with royalty, nobility and prestige, atop which sat a glittering tiara.

Themed ‘Feel Royal,’ the day’s programme included a throne at the Atrium with the expected accoutrements for photographs; discounts on all purchases of ladies’ wear; a gift of a necklace with every purchase at ‘Backstage’; discounts on food at the ‘Promenade’ food court; tea tasting with Dilmah at ‘Blend’ and purple coloured cupcakes at ‘Delight.’

“ODEL has always been a favourite rendezvous point for women because we offer everything they desire — clothing, accessories, footwear, cosmetics, home ware and lifestyle products in an ambience that allows them to relax and enjoy a shopping experience that is unmatched in Sri Lanka,” a spokesperson for the store said. “On International Women’s Day we raised the bar even higher with our ‘Feel Royal’ programme to recognise and celebrate women.”

Pictured here are some of the ladies who visited ODEL on International Women’s Day experiencing the royal treatment rolled out especially for them.

If fashion is about dressing for the occasion, time and place, ODEL’s beach-inspired Spring 2018 Collection gives inhabitants of the paradise isle and visitors the perfect attire and accessories to effect a chic seasonal makeover.

Reminiscent of a non-stop beach vacation, the Spring Collection at Colombo’s favourite department store lends itself to looks inspired by the sea, and also explores elements of the recent, glimmering ‘modern mermaid’ trend.

Aptly themed ‘Beyond the Sea’, the just-in collection made of an assortment of textures unveiled on the 1st of February features pieces fashioned from chiffon, crepe, cotton viscose, linen, crushed velvet, sequin silk, transparent sheer fabric and multiple sequin patterned fabrics.

A mix of chic and rustic designs, complete with stripes, tropical prints, and palm fringes the collection is inspired by world-renowned brands such as Balmain, Gucci, Valentino, Prada, Elie Saab, and Jason Wu; and come in shades of blue, pink, green, gold, silver, yellow, green, brown, and red redolent of the ocean, glorious sunsets and all things beachy.

“Spring is a time for frolicking, and for most, it is the time to get out there and really experience the beauty of the ocean. Our Spring 2018 Collection is inspired by the sea and its intricacies, and especially by the latest and popular ‘mermaid’ trend that’s taken the world by storm,” said Ms Desiree Karunaratne, Group Marketing Director of Softlogic Holdings which owns the iconic department store chain. “We see fashion as a vehicle of self expression; and for that, the collection gives plenty of opportunity.”

The ‘seanic’ collection also extends itself to fashion lines for men and kids, which too feature tropical prints and light colours. The matching accessories collection also explores oceanic elements in lighter shades, with beads and tassels to complete the ensemble.

Furthermore, in keeping with the theme, the Home Collection at ODEL showcases a product line that touches on coastal interior styles with beach tones, seaside motifs, and rustic, nautical themed items.

Staying true to the oceanic theme, all ODEL department stores are now dressed in accents evocative of the ocean, giving shoppers the feeling of a beach vacation as they pick out their outfits for spring.

Opens up ‘A whole new world’ of shopping and good cheer

Big spaces, bigger brands and the biggest baubles you have seen have come into dramatic play this Christmas at Sri Lanka’s snazziest department store, ODEL.

Themed ‘A whole new world,’ this year’s festive transformation sees the iconic Alexandra Place mansion adorned in celebratory splendour complete with throngs of bright red, dazzling gold, and shimmery silver baubles.

‘Bauble bushes’ have cropped up all over the store and will soon adorn the roundabout in front of it. Inside the store, gigantic matt and metallic bauble wreaths in the festive shades of choice have been strung across the ceilings, and even the trees in the vicinity are plenteous with bright coloured giant baubles that shout out that the season of good cheer is upon us.

Noteworthy big global brands, exciting new products, unparalleled offerings, seasonal features, special bank promotions and extended shopping hours have now been introduced as the countdown to Christmas begins. And, with the recently added 10,000 square feet of elegant shopping space, ODEL is encouraging visitors to experience a whole new world of fashion retail indulgence.

The store has also launched a scintillating new fashion collection for its style connoisseurs, inspired by brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Ellie Saab, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Marchesa, Gucci, Chanel, Versace and Fenty X Puma.

This special Christmas collection is accentuated with the colours of festive grandeur such as red, silver, pale gold, beige, white, and shades of blue. Drawing from a futuristic sense of fashion encompassing elements of galactic prints and modern metallics that is all the vogue currently, this collection features statement pieces delicately crafted from shimmer fabrics, satin, silk, crepe viscose, metallic fabrics, velvet, georgette, ponte fabric and eyelash lace trims.

Stripes, rose prints, space prints and planet prints make a stunning appearance in this year’s seasonal fashion collection.

Nature continues to enthral fashion designers around the world, whose efforts to synergise their creations with the environment are well represented in the latest collection unveiled by ODEL to celebrate fall 2017.

Mirroring the patterns and shades of botanical bliss, the new collection takes its inspiration from some of the planet’s best known designers – Balmain, Gucci, Valentino, Prada, Elie Saab and Jason Wu and is supported by a campaign themed ‘Botanica’ which will also transform store interiors and decor. Featuring fabrics as diverse as crepe, matte satin silk, tweed, organza, chiffon, fennel, georgette and corduroy among others, the Botanica collection uses botanical, vintage floral and check prints with embroidery detailing for a truly distinctive look and feel.

The new collection uses elements of nature such as flowers, plants, landscapes, insects and other animals that stimulate our affinity with the environment while incorporating advancements made possible by technology.

Khaki green, orange, brown, grey, dark blue, white, beige and other earthy shades enhance the collection’s nexus with nature and are in harmony with local conditions and settings. A matching jewellery collection emulates the theme with earthy elements such as leaf prints, insects and flowers, ensuring ODEL shoppers can perfectly sync their clothing and accessories.

“The Botanica collection is particularly interesting as it reflects the synergistic energy with the environment that the fashion industry is beginning to explore globally,” said Ms Desiree Karunaratne, Group Marketing Director of Softlogic Holdings, which owns the ODEL chain. “At ODEL, we too are digging deeper to understand what it means to be a fashion brand in the age of sustainability. The Botanica collection is just one example of Green fashion, sustainability and care for the environment which is embodied in our latest themed campaign.”

As always, the fall 2017 collection will be available across all ODEL stores around the country and will offer a selection to suit all age groups, genders and sizes, and will include matching shoes, bags and other fashion accessories.
