The Opening Ceremony of the “Preparatory Meeting of UN Peacekeeping Ministerial 2023” was held on 25 June 2023 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka.
Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, UN Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance, Director General, Peace and Stabilization Operations of Global Affairs Canada, Commandant, Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training, and Representative of Ministry of National Defense of Uruguay made their remarks at the Opening Ceremony.
The two-day Preparatory Meeting is being held from 25-26 June 2023 in Dhaka, where around 150 delegates from various countries and international organizations including national participants will discuss and exchange views about contemporary opportunities and challenges related to gender equality in peacekeeping. The theme of the meeting is ‘Women in Peacekeeping’. The discussions will shape the commitments from Member States ahead of the next UN Ministerial Meeting to be held in in Ghana in December 2023.
