Three Future Architects Received KSRM Award

Three future-architects in the hands of KSRM & IAB joint initiative ‘KSRM Award for Future Architects: Best Undergraduate Thesis’ awarded to three talented and young future-architects. The awards were handed over to the winners at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Center at Agargaon in the capital on 13 February 2024 Tuesday. Three of the contestants are nominated based on their vision and merit in modern architecture. KSRM has given this award for the fifth time.



Mir Manjurur Rahman, chief architect of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works was the chief guest on the occasion. He handed over awards and mementos to the winners. At that time he said, ‘This initiative of KSRM and IAB is highly commendable. This award will motivate the students more. It is my hope that different groups of companies will come forward with such initiatives in our country like other countries of the world.

General Manager of KSRM Market Research and Development Branch Colonel (Retd.) Md. Ashfaqul Islam said in his speech, ‘The cheerful mind of the youth is the main force of building our future citizens. If you recognize these beautiful thoughts, it will serve as a helpful force in building the dreams and aspirations of the present and future generations.

KSRM Legal Advisor Barrister Saiful Alam Chowdhury, Media Advisor Mizanul Islam, Deputy Manager (Brand) Moniruzzaman Riyad, Award Coordinator Architect Syeda Saikha Sudah, KSRM Engineer Saif Mawla, Senior Officers Mizan Ul Haque, Mithun Barua, Tahumul Haque Babu and others were present on the occasion. 

This time, the first award winner was Fahim Ashfaq Farooqui of Chittagong University of Science and Technology (CHUTE), the second was Mahia Mustari Nausheen of Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET) and the third was Israt Jahan of Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET). The winners were given a check of 1 lakh, 75 thousand and 50 thousand rupees respectively and a memento. A joint initiative of KSRM and IAB presents the award to future-architects by showcasing projects based on the best research papers.

IAB General Secretary Nabi Nawaz Khan said, ‘The same idea works in view of the megastructures currently being inaugurated or under construction in Bangladesh. We are proud to be a partner in every mega project contributing to SDG targets and GDP. I am sure, the young generation is nurturing that the future has the power to create more opportunities for everyone.

Architect Professor Dr. Khandaker Sabbir Ahmed, presented the keynote at the award ceremony.  IAB Secretary (Education) Architect Dr. Nowroz Fatemi. gave the opening speech. 
Incidentally, KSRM, one of the country’s leading steel manufacturing industrial group, annually awards three emerging, talented and innovative future-architects. On this occasion, a 10-year MoU was signed between KSRM and IAB in 2019. Under that agreement, the final year undergraduate students of 13 reputed architecture educational institutions of the IAB-recognized country participate in this award competition. The top three contestants from each educational institution participated in the final competition. This time, a jury board of five architects selected the best three from among the 35 participating student projects. The projects were exhibited at the IAB Center on February 10 from 10 am. The three-day exhibition ended on 13 February.
