05th June 2025, Colombo: Vision Care, Sri Lanka’s largest vision, hearing and eyewear solutions provider, organized and successfully concluded a meaningful beach cleanup initiative at Mount Lavinia under the theme “Clear Vision Clear Shores” to mark World Environment Day. Driven by a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and community well-being, the initiative brought together staff members from Vision Care’s Mount Lavinia and Wellawatte branches along with several key stakeholders from the public sector and local community.
The project was carried out in collaboration with the Mount Lavinia Police and the Ratmalana Divisional Secretariat, showcasing the impact of collective action in safeguarding the country’s natural beauty. Officers from the Mount Lavinia Police, along with members of the Environmental Unit, actively participated in the effort, providing support and coordination on the ground.
Also joining the event were the Grama Niladhari of the Mount Lavinia division and the Environmental Development Officers from the Ratmalana Divisional Secretariat, further reinforcing the wide community support and multi-stakeholder participation that made the project a success.
Held at the popular and scenic Mount Lavinia Beach, the cleanup aimed to reduce pollution, remove harmful waste, and foster a greater sense of environmental responsibility among the public. As one of the most visited beaches in the Colombo area, preserving its cleanliness is vital for both ecological health and the enjoyment of local and international visitors.
This initiative is part of Vision Care’s broader commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. By engaging employees in hands-on environmental action and working alongside public institutions, Vision Care continues to build awareness around the importance of protecting Sri Lanka’s natural resources and promoting cleaner, healthier communities.
