Lochana de Silva and Ranithma Liyanage clinched double crowns at the Summer Season All-Island Badminton Championship which took place at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium in Nuwara Eliya.
Lochana beat Savinaka Weerasekara in the Men’s Singles final (18-21,21-13,21-13) while Ranithma beat Praveena Wijesundara in the Women’s Open final (21-10, 21-11).
The men’s Doubles final was won by Oshamika Karunaratne and Thulith Palliyaguruge who overpowered Lochana de Silva and Siyath Senaratne (22-20,14-21,24-22).
Ranithma lifted her second title when she teamed up with Kavindi Sirimannage to defeat Hasini Ambalangodage and Hasara Wijayaratne (21-12,21-11) in the Women’s Doubles final.
The Mixed Doubles final was won by Lochana de Silva and Nadeesha Gayathri who defeated Lasitha Menaka and Renu Chandrika de Silva (21-15,21-15)
The nine-day event was organized by the Central Provincial Badminton Association under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Badminton.
The President of Sri Lanka Badminton, Rohan de Silva, Former Mayor of Nuwara Eliya and Officials of by the Central Provincial Badminton Association were the special guests at the awards ceremony.
