World Junior Championships: Sri Lankan shuttlers leave for Spain

The Sri Lanka junior badminton team left the island last night to take part in the 22nd World Junior Badminton Championships which will be held in Spain from October 17 to 30.

The team which will begin campaign in Group G, consists of seven boys and four girls.

The players are: (Boys) Sethum Perera, Savinaka Weerasekera, Jason Homer, Pulina Wellalage, Thilina Rajakaruna, Senuk Samararatne, Ashinsha Herath, (girls) Ranithma Liyanage, Panchali Adhikari, Manudhi Mithara and Warangana Jayawardene.

Sumith de Silva is the manager of the team, coached by Yukthi Rangana Perera. Gayani Hinidumage is the Lady Chaperon on tour.

The team underwent a number of training sessions ahead of the tour, under the supervision of Sri Lanka Badminton President Rohan De Silva and other SLB officials.
